  • How do I apply for a Family Loan?
    Please follow these steps: STEP 1Join the Credit Union. Join online(recommended/fastest) or In-branch. We complete an ID check to verify your details. Existing member? Skip to step 3. STEP 2Activate your account. You need to make an initial deposit to your savings and pay an admin charge of £1. You'll be asked to make a card payment of £5 when you join online but you can also pay over the phone by debit card or deposit cash in any branch. NEW!Register for Online Members Area and you can make a deposit via debit card directly to your account - anytime! STEP 3Apply for your Family Loan here. Once completed, we will call you back to obtain financial data. If you use online banking we can send you a secure link to obtain this remotely. STEP 4A decision in principle. Once we have assessed your application (24-48hrs) we will contact you and let you know your loan decision. STEP 5Make arrangements for a benefit or salary to be paid to your Credit Union account. You will need to contact HMRC/DWP or your Employer to arrange this. STEP 6 First payment of your benefit or salary to the Credit Union. On this day we will send you your loan agreement to sign. This is typically sent to you via email unless you request a branch visit. Once signed we will issue loan funds! ​​ Please note: all our loans are 'Save-As-You-Borrow' this means you are expected to save whilst you repay your loan. This ensures you have a nice pot of savings to look forward to upon completion of your loan.
  • What is a Family Loan and how does it operate?
    Our ‘Family Loan’ allows families/individuals to apply for a loan of up to £500 from the Credit Union. This will be conditional upon a benefit or salary being paid directly into your account with the Credit Union in addition to our lending criteria.
  • How do I change my benefit or salary to the Credit Union?
    You will need to contact HMRC/DWP or your Employer and ask them to make payments to your account with us. We will supply the sort code, account number, and applicable reference when we provide a decision in principle.
  • Who can apply for a Family Loan?
    Anyone who lives or works in Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion or West Glamorgan can join SaveEasy Credit Union and apply for a Family Loan.
  • What happens to my benefit or salary when it arrives at the Credit Union?
    The whole of your benefit or salary will be paid to your account with the Credit Union. We will expect a contribution to be made to your attached savings account. For subsequent payments, we will pay your loan and save an amount agreed with you. You decide what happens to the ‘surplus’ amount. It can be left in your savings account or sent back to your bank account.
  • Can I apply for more than £500 or have more than one Family Loan?
    Our Family Loan is capped at £500 and is strictly limited to one per member.
  • Can I get a Savers' loan with the Credit Union?
    Once you have fully repaid your Family Loan, you will be eligible to apply for a Savers' loan. The amount you can borrow will depend primarily on your savings balance and will be subject to affordability. More information here.
  • How can I access my savings?
    Whilst you are repaying your Family Loan, your savings are locked in place. Upon completion you are able to withdraw savings by contacting any branch.
  • Can I pay my loan back early? Are there any fees for this?
    Members can clear the balance of a loan at any time and we do not charge any early settlement fees for this.
